Let me start off by saying that I get a lot of facials. I love trying out new treatments and seeing what’s new in the skincare world. I like to generally pamper my face so it shines like the top of the Chrysler building. But by far, the best facial I have ever gotten was from Yolanda Mata, aka Yoliglo. Yoli is a favorite of celebrities and influencers alike, and her warm demeanor and gentle touch — paired with her endlessly glowy results — keep people coming back for more.
Yoli is a Tatcha ambassador and exclusively uses their products in her facials, which makes for a super luxurious experience (as well as gorgeous skin). But it’s not just the glowy facial that made me fall in love with her. She’s also the kindest, warmest person, and she makes you feel welcome from the time you walk in her door to long after you leave.
It’s a given that I’ll continue experimenting with different facials, salons, and estheticians. But I know that I will always go back to Yoli whenever my skin is need of some serious TLC. She is the one facialist I have met that I would trust doing virtually anything to my skin, and her smile never fails to brighten my day.
Yoli usually only takes appointments via referral.
Because Yoli is in such high demand, she can usually only set up appointments via referrals from her current clients. Luckily, I have an in with the folks at Tatcha, so Yoli was one of my first stops when I moved to Los Angeles. She normally sets up her appointments via text, and she is flexible enough to work around your schedule if she can. I was able to get an appointment with her within a week of texting.
She promises to leave you fully relaxed, and she definitely delivers.
Yoli tells her clients that you should work out before the facial because she wants you to be able to relax afterward. The experience of her facial starts before you arrive at her place, and lasts long after you leave.
Upon arriving at her apartment, she asked me to remove my shoes and escorted me to her living room. She had set up an entire tea party, complete with cookies, mixed nuts, chocolate-covered goodies, and some of her homemade tea. (The tea is now one of my favorite things in the world — I’ve asked her for the recipe!)
We got to know each other more as we sipped our tea, and she put an effort into learning more about me. She asked me about my job, what brought me to LA, and my relationship. We chatted about family, friends, and restaurants we loved. Then, she asked me what my skincare issues and goals were. I told her about my insecurities with my eczema and dryness, and she told me not to worry.
The actual facial was nothing short of heavenly.
After sitting in her living room for awhile, we made our way over to her facial bed. She strategically placed some crystals near my head, hands, and feet (because LA, am I right?) and got to working. First, she cleansed my face with the Camellia Cleansing Oil ($48) and exfoliated with the Rice Polish: Gentle ($65), using a warm towel to wipe my face in between each step.
I don’t know how to describe her touch as anything other than perfectly gentle. She was amazingly light with her hands, but took the time to really massage each product into my face. For extractions, she didn’t even use a steamer. She emphasizes clean beauty and treating the face with a gentle touch, so all she used were her hands and a tiny needle. I can safely say that I had never had extractions that painless (and I still haven’t, since).
After the extractions were over, she began massaging my face with her hands and a pair of Akari Gold Massagers ($195) to lightly encourage lymphatic drainage. The final step of the facial was a generous layer of the Violet-C Radiance Mask ($68). She even put a layer on my elbows to help relieve my eczema breakouts. (The vitamin C and AHAs from seven different fruits helped exfoliate the dead top layer of skin.) While the mask set, she gently massaged my shoulders, neck, hands, and feet.
As promised, I left feeling relaxed, and more glowy than I could ever dream to be.
I didn’t want to get up from her facial table after she was done. It felt like all of the bad stuff in my body had been drained out of my body through this facial. Not only did I leave with extremely glowy skin, but I felt like I had really been loved on. Yoli made me feel so special and cared for; it was unlike any other facial I had ever had.
I cannot recommend Yoli enough. Now, she’s my go-to gal for my facials. She texts me just to check in on how I’m doing — not even to schedule my next appointment — and she asks if I need tips on caring for my eczema. I love her more than words can say, and I know that if you get a facial with her, you absolutely won’t regret it.
