Consider this post the sign you were waiting for: It’s totally time to go shoe shopping. If, like me, you were just waiting for an excuse, I hereby give you full permission to splurge. First, though, be sure to brush up on the top summer shoe trends 2019, so you can (literally) put your best foot forward all season. Read on for the styles worth snagging and some major footwear inspo.
Before I dive into specific shoes, allow me share the deets on what types of styles are trending. On the casual side of the spectrum, flip flops and sneakers are still going strong. When it comes to heels, the funkier the better. Think lace-up ankles and art museum-worthy heels. As for texture, pretty much anything goes! Snakeskin, woven leather, feather, fluff, and the works. 2019 is the summer of pairing bold footwear with basic outfits, and it couldn’t be easier to nail the look without breaking the bank. Investing in one great shoe can set you up for the season, and I’ve already lined up ten options for you to choose from. If you do end up buying more than one, though, no judgment here. I’ve already got all ten pairs added to my cart — can you blame me?
Something about a woven accessory just screams summer, doesn’t it? This laid-back texture helps dress down an outfit while adding a little bit of interest. A solid-colored weave is great, but these Loeffler Randall sandals are a tricolor take that’s still neutral enough to wear daily.
Living Coral is the Pantone 2019 Color of the Year, and it’s a hue that just so happens to resemble a dreamy summer sunset. That said, if a coral dress or makeup look feels too bold, pairing a bright sneaker with a simple ‘fit will add a pop of warmth.

When it comes to heels this season, the bolder the better. With this in mind, who better to turn to than notoriously funky dresser Katy Perry? These watermelon wedges are from the latest drop by Katy Perry Collections, and I’m just dying to rock them with denim cutoffs and a silky white tank. They look delicious enough to eat, TBH.

Elevated Dad Sneakers
Out of all the summer shoe trends for 2019, this one left me a little shook. The dad sneaker lives on, people! But this season, it’s getting an upgrade. Ditch your plain white kicks for something with a little more pizazz; a baby pink fade will do just fine.
Feathers & Fluff
Fluffy, feathery shoes might seem ultra feminine, but it’s all about how you style them. These statement sandals with seafoam green fluff were practically designed with an Instagram flatlay in mind. They’ll definitely stand out in a sea of flip flops, too.
Considering pretty much everyone wore snakeskin at Coachella, it’s no surprise the trend is still hot for summer. These Jeffrey Campbell boots come in four different snakeskin color ways, but the red and blue version is my personal fave. Imagine rocking these babies on the Fourth Of July? That’s some major BBE (Big Boot Energy).
Does anyone want to go out tonight? These lace-up sandals are made for a Little Black Dress, if you ask me. You don’t have to rock a sky-high heel to embrace the ankle-wrap trend, but when they look this good, why wouldn’t you?
If you’re more of a comfort gal, the Teva trend has you covered. Flatform sandals are on the rise, and the brand has tons of their OG styles amped up with an elevated sole. I have to admit, they do look more comfortable than those hot pink heels.
See-through, clear, translucent…Whatever you call it, the look is in. A completely clear heel can help elongate the look of your legs, and something like this Laurence Dacade sandal is an easy way to try out the trend. The black hearts are separated by a see-through strip, and you can pair this block heel with just about anything.
Classic Flip Flops
Last but not least, the most casual summer shoe trend of 2019. Can you believe the OG flip flop is back? That said, your rubber shower shoes from college aren’t exactly “in.” Brands are taking the casual silhouette and jazzing it up just a bit, using cool textures and chic colors to make them more stylish and wearable. Plus, this one has the tiniest “micro-heel” to give you just a little more pep in your step.
